It really initiates you into the fantasy. I had such high hopes for this, as I’m a huge fan of Rice’s other novel – and this definitely started off fantastically.
I’m surprised and a bit shock, idk what else to say right now but it actually was written very fluidly and solidly. This is not a manual of the BDSM lifestyle.

I never thought of sex as horror before I read annw book but it certainly goes there. I don’t really want to read it again, but I want the symbol of my growth and history sitting on my bookshelf. Or perhaps I have not had a relationship with that kind of flavor to it since the 80’s so I associate such attitudes with a time long long ago?

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty series is not for the faint of heart. I like a good erotic story, and this one isn’t my flavor. At first I don’t get the plot at all but as I was reading it, the plot got deeper and I like the fact that I actually sympathize with the sex slaves in this book. Paperback0 pages. Even more disturbing was that, although my mind rebelled against every new torture, my body reacted hotly with erotic lust.
Now Anne Rice’s retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. An erotic novel that actually has a story line!
Its the steamist thing ever written and to think its a trilogy is alarming cause I’m sure the first book is the tip no pun intended of the iceberg. My first book as an adult I masturbated to this book probably more frequently than I have for any other book. Book two was so-so Rice reimagined the story of Sleeping Beauty, with her not being awakened with a kiss, but by being raped by the Prince while she slept.
I think she just saw “Sleeping Beauty” and assumed I’d want it. I just felt character development could have been better because the world and situations were so fantastic.
It brought forth my desires in a way that I couldn’t describe or explain. Knowing Anne Rice works, I was expecting a different kind of thriller or possibly a romance novel since it was written in a pen name AN Roquolaire.
